Balvard Stone Garden

Stone Garden (or Bagh-E Sangi) is a mysterious garden with fruits made of stone, which is located about 40 km from Sirjan, Iran. The creator of this garden has been deaf and dumb since birth. He planned to build this garden for protesting against wrong plans of government (land reforms) that resulted to destruction of trees. One of the amazing things is that there is no stone close to the garden and he has no equipped device for drilling the stones. He carried the big stones from the mountains and hanged them to the dead trees. In 1976 an Iranian film director (Parviz Kimiavi) produced a movie based on the life of Darvish Khan (creator of garden). The Stone Garden (the name of film) won the Silver Bear prize for the best film at Berlin film festival. Darvish Khan died in 2007 and his tomb is close to the garden. I suggest you to watch the movie before your visit.
